Sharing Flavours, Building Connections: February’s Cultural Potluck at Fundstream

Potluck table with empanadas, cheesy bread, pico de gallo, and chicken sandwiches, each labeled with ingredients.

On Thursday, February 26, the Fundstream team gathered for one of its most favoured social events for a second consecutive year: the cultural potluck. At Fundstream, monthly social events are an intentional effort to create space for connection across departments. Organized by its social committee and executed by volunteers from different teams, each month features a different theme or activity. These events provide opportunities for colleagues to step away from their desks and engage with one another in a relaxed, informal setting. This month’s event highlighted the incredible cultural diversity within our team.

Among the many delicious offerings were Irish colcannon and bangers, Mexican molletes, Salvadoran panes con pollo, Middle Eastern ma’amoul and basboussa, Caribbean curried channa and aloo, Italian gnocchi and panna cotta, Colombian empanadas, and Haitian patties. The spread wouldn’t have been complete without our favourite local comfort foods, including homemade carrot soup, tourtière (meat pie), and pain aux pommes (apple cake). The savory dishes filled the room with a tantalizing aroma and servings disappeared from the table almost as quickly as they were placed there.

In the span of a single lunch hour, employees who might not typically collaborate found common ground over a shared appreciation for delicious home-cooked meals. These interactions strengthen relationships that carry back into the workplace. As we move through 2026, we’re already looking forward to the next social events to come.
